Donald Trump paid a graceful and moving tribute to the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday at the age of 99.
“The world mourns the death of Prince Philip, a man who embodied the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth’s noble soul and proud spirit,” Donald Trump said. “Melania and I express our heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family as a whole.”
The statement went on to say, “We give our most sincere condolences to the British people.” “This is an unreplaceable tragedy for the United Kingdom and those who cherish our civilization.”
Trump continued, “Prince Philip described British integrity and grace.” “He embodied the United Kingdom’s calm reserve, stern fortitude, and unwavering integrity.”
“As a young naval officer in World War II, he served Britain honorably and courageously,” Trump said. “He saw action at sea on battleships in the Mediterranean. In 1943, he took part in the pivotal Allied invasion of Sicily.”

Trump added, “Like so many of his generation, he put his life on the line for God, nation, and the ideals of freedom and self-government that forever unified America and the United Kingdom in Britain’s darkest hour.”
“Prince Philip brought the same sense of duty and intent to his position as consort and husband to the Queen for seven decades,” he continued. “His fellow citizens loved him, and he was revered by people all over the world. His greatest legacy will be his outstanding example of service, consistency, and patriotism.”
“Melania and I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to visit the United Kingdom over the past few years,” Trump said. “We saw firsthand how the monarchy exemplifies and perpetuates the values of the British people — none more so than Prince Philip.”
“As we mourn his passing, we remember him and renew our commitment to the ideals to which he dedicated his extraordinary life.
