Andrew Cuomo’s tenure as governor of New York has been marred once again by a sexual assault allegation that has been submitted to the police.

According to the New York Times, “Albany Police Department officials said on Thursday that they had received a complaint from a state official about an alleged incident at the Executive Mansion involving Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and a female aide that could have risen’to the level of a crime.”

The Times continued, “Steve Smith, an Albany police spokesman, said the department has not received a formal complaint from the woman, who has not been named, but that it had reached out to a lawyer for her.”

“The Times Union reports that a staff member was summoned to the governor’s mansion under the apparent pretext of assisting him with a minor technical problem concerning his cellphone,” according to the Times Union. According to the author, they were alone in Cuomo’s private residence on the second floor when he closed the door and allegedly reached under her blouse and fondled her.

“The Times Union first published the accusations by the female aide, who is the sixth woman to accuse Cuomo of improper behavior,” the publication adds.

“The new information explain the governor’s most egregious actions to date, conduct that could be prosecuted as a misdemeanor sexual assault charge.”
